The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music offers students a variety of performance ensembles, ranging from classical to contemporary styles. Numerous performing opportunities are available to all students, regardless of their majors. In addition to U of M ensembles, the Memphis community also offers students participation in such organizations as the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, River City Band, Germantown Symphony Orchestra, Memphis Civic Orchestra, Opera Memphis, the Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Memphis Early Music Ensemble and Southern Opera Theater. The School of Music is also home to several active faculty ensembles which have earned acclaim for their artistry in local, national and international performances. Their varied repertories range from classical to jazz to contemporary works composed by School of Music faculty.
