Graduate Scholarship Support

The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music stands among the premiere institutions for music in the arts education world. In order to attract quality students to the University of Memphis, sustaining a pool of scholarship funds for graduate students is critical for us to be competitive, for us to continue to develop an exceptional reputation, and for us to maintain an appropriate community of scholars in all areas within the School. Our graduate students currently come from Memphis, Shelby County and the Mid-South, but also from 19 states and 12 countries. Our funding level for graduate students is only in the 40th percentile when compared to the 33 music schools at our level nationally.

Scheidt School f Music’s connection to the professional performers and scholars in the arts world is nothing short of astounding. The School of Music must bring artists and scholars to campus to infuse our students’ educational experience with a greater understanding of the world beyond college life.

Our students and student ensembles receive invitations to perform at major national and international events and venues. Successful performances at national/international conferences and competitions as well as the opportunity to provide career building opportunities for students can virtually transform the image of the School and the University in a very positive way.

Performance, Program, and Festival Sponsorships

The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music is the largest and most diverse music presenter in the region showcasing nearly 300 recitals, concerts, musicals, operas, and lectures each year. The quality of faculty leadership and student caliber for these events is so consistently high that our public has grown to expect professional-quality work.
