MEMPHIS SUZUKI INSTITUTE

Institute Director: Candelina Schumann

The University of Memphis Suzuki Institute is one of the first established institutes in the nation.  Institute faculty is composed of the finest Suzuki teachers across the country.  All faculty members are registered Suzuki teachers with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Classes are conducted in an atmosphere that emphasizes the principles of Dr. Suzuki.

FLUTE INSTITUTE

July 14-18, 2008
9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Director: Ruth Ann McClain

Open to flutists of all ages and skill levels.  Participants will work in small and large ensembles.  Activities include:

  • Faculty Recitals
  • Technique Classes
  • Solo Repertoire
  • Masterclasses
  • Flute Choir
  • Music Theory Classes
  • Flute Repair
  • Gala Closing Recital

One year playing experience required, or special permission from the director.

Registration Fee (non refundable) $ 30
Camp Tuition (includes daily snack) $165

MUSIC & ART CAMP
July 7-11, 2008
9 AM - 12 PM
Ages 5 – 9

Students will explore music, art and movement with a focus on a different country each day.  Activities include:

  • Orff Classes
  • Group Music/Movement Classes
  • Multi-Media Art Activities
  • Daily Snack

A student Music/Art show at the end of camp will be open to the public.

Registration Fee (non refundable) $ 30
Camp Tuition (includes daily snack) $135
Total $165

PIANO & ART CAMP
July 21-25, 2008
9 AM - 4 PM
Ages 7 & up

Open to students of all skill levels. Activities include:

  • Masterclasses
  • Small Group Lessons
  • Ensembles
  • Guest Artists
  • Multi-Media Art Activities
  • Faculty Recitals
  • Student Recitals

A student recital at the end of camp will be open to the public.
